Styling Cute Grandma Cardigans

Monday, 30 September 2019

It’s been a while since I’ve done a fashion blog post, but I feel like the time is right to get back into it.

This season’s trend is all about the iddy bitty cardigans. Those cardigans that a year ago we would of said our grandmas would wear them. But now, all the fashion girls are wearing them and in an unconvential way. With only one of two buttons done up.

Now, I’m a little larger on the chest area so I wanted to try these out and have found and styled my favourite cardigan for you all. I have also attached a video of my trying about 15 different ones from Asos, so sit back and have a little look as I try to pull these cardigans off.

For me, I really loved the style as soon as I saw it. Although I’m not quite sure about wearing it as open as some people there are many different ways to wear it.

Firstly, you can style it as your grandma would; doing only the top button up and wearing a vest top underneath. This is a very practical and versatile way of wearing it. You could wear it with smart trousers, or a satin skirt for the office, or with jeans for the weekend.

This is possibly the easiest way for ladies with a larger chest to buy into this trend. You don’t have to worry about the material peeping open from each button, nor them bursting open. This way you can go for your size or even a size smaller.

Secondly, which is my favourite way to wear it. Get it one size larger you’re your normal size and have the top and bottom buttons undone. As shown in the pictures you can see just how this hones into the trend.

Lastly, you can wear it with all the buttons done up. Again, I recommend going up a size as it’ll feel safer and secure that way.

I have also tagged all of my favourite pieces below. How would you style them?

This Seasons Must Have Coat With Superdry

Sunday, 22 October 2017

When I start to feel the chill in London, the first thing I want to do is get myself a new season coat. This is something I have done for as long as I can remember. Each year, during half term I would set about finding this seasons must have coat to wear all winter long.

Over the years I have set myself a target of acquiring a coat for every occasion. Smart, casual, smart casual, light coat, winter coats, my I couldn't give a f*ck what I look like I'm warm coat and many more.

This year, I noticed there was one thing missing from my wardrobe. I've never owned a navy coat, so this years mission was to find a navy coat that I could wear to meetings and events that was smart but still quite demure at the same time.

In the spring I picked up a gorgeous trench coat from Superdry and received so many compliments on it. People were in awe of the pieces I picked up from the store a few months back, pleasantly impressed that Superdry were no longer just a sportswear brand. Over the last few seasons, their pieces have been a lot more trend led with a focus on quality and fit and that's why I was excited to have a look at their new AW range to see if there was anything that caught my eye.

As the weather in London has dramatically dropped, I've been getting good wear out of this navy coat. It makes me look put together even when I am wearing basic clothes. For this look I wanted to show how everyday basics could still look sophisticated and elegant. I put on a very old white roll neck sweater with some flared trousers and decided to put my hair in a low bun. This is something I don't do often but I thought it worked really well with the collar of the coat. This navy coat would still look amazing over a dress or even a pair of jeans. It's extremely versatile and perfect for this season.

In this particular style I would size down. Initially I picked this up in a size (M) but had to exchange it for an (XS) as it comes up quite large. I usually like coats to be quite big so that I can layer underneath, however, despite going down a few sizes I still have a lot of room for thicker layers and the coat still looks sleek and fitted on me.

If you're not a fan of navy coats, this particular one also comes in a grey and white mottled herringbone effect.

This is a collaboration with Superdry (*).

Summer. It's my favourite time of the year. The sunshine, the warm climate and the fact I can consume as many ice-creams as I like in hopes of cooling down makes me super happy.

One of my go to looks for summer days are dresses. I have and most probably will always rely on dresses. I find them the easiest as it's just one piece of clothing and I don't have to faff around finding something to match. Don't get me wrong, as you can tell from my blog, I always switch up my style from playsuits to skirts and shorts, but dresses will forever be my favourite.

There's something about wearing light colour in the summer. It makes me feel so fresh and I want to say breezy, but I'm aware that's not an adjective, but I'm going to go with it. The dress is so light that it keeps you cool during the summer. The bardot style is perfect for revealing a bit of skin without looking over the top. Personally, you can't go wrong with a bardot, but for those who feel a little conscious and dare I say a little naked, opt for a cold shoulder or something which just grazes across the shoulder.

I teamed this dress with these striped sandals. They're super cute and were under £25. I find that stripes are perfect to bringing a nautical vibe to your look, and when the stripes are quite close together, it can make a outfit look put together and a lot more expensive than it actually is.

Five Reasons To Visit North Cyprus

five reasons to visit north cyprus

five reasons to visit north cyprus

Ever since I can remember, I've been going to North Cyprus once a year if not more. It's where I call my second home and I may be biased but this article is sure to make you want to come and visit this beautiful Island myself and my family are from.

Cyprus is such a small island (9,251 km²),  yet there's so much history and culture. I've grown to love the island for many different reasons. The fact that half of my family lives there makes it a place that I love to visit often. But for those with no emotional attachments to the island, trust me, you will still want to visit. Here are five reasons why you must visit The Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The History

Cyprus is an island that has been split into two different nations. The North side of the island is occupied by Turkish Cypriots, whereas the South side is occupied by Greek Cypriots. In 1974, there was a war between the two nations which led to this divide. Families from both sides had to migrate and both suffered a lot of loss from family, friends and land. But if you look even further back, the island seems to have been occupied by every nation from the beginning of time. The island has ruins from 10,000 BC and occupies a strong influence of Greek Mythology as Cyprus was the birth place of Aphrodite and Adonis.

Segments from each era can be found across the island. Some of the must visit historic sites in North Cyprus are Saint Hillarion Castle, Bellapais Abbey, Pentadaktylos (Bes Parmak Dallari), Mavi Kosk, Salamis, Kantara Castle. And if none of that takes your fancy, make your way to any of the villages and start walking around trying to get lost. These small villages have so much history and fascinating stories you're bound to fall in love with the island.

The Weather

North Cyprus has a typical Mediterranean climate. In peak summer season, temperatures rise to over 40 degrees celcius. This year temperatures are set to reach as high at 50 degrees! Summer lasts for around eight months, with a few cool months during the winter. If sun sea and cocktails are your thing, head there in July/August. For those wanting to explore the island a little more, I'd suggest heading out April/May or September/October as it's a little cooler. As it's a Mediterranean island, the sea tends to be warmer than the seas in the UK and Europe.

The Hospitality

From the streets to the hotels, everyone is so friendly. On this visit I spent a few nights at Lord's Palace. The hotel has been open for under a year but it's reputation for luxury is already what all the locals are talking about. The staff are so friendly and so helpful that they make each and every guest feel at home from the minute they arrive. Read my hotel review here.

Apart from this, if you ever go with someone who has family out there you will be treated like a King or a Queen. Whenever you arrive at someones house whether they know you or not, their home suddenly becomes your haven and a feast is prepared for you. Before you know it you are rushed into the dinning room for a full on meal with desert, fruit and coffee.

The Food

I may be extremely biased but the food in North Cyprus has got to be one of my favourite cuisines. Turkish food is so delicious and there is something for everyone. When you arrive at a restaurant, the majority of them bring mezzes or the very least, bread and olive oil for you to enjoy while waiting for your food to be prepared. Typically, restaurants serve BBQ so that's anything from meat, chicken fish to vegetables. There's something for everyone. If you're not after a main meal, the soups, lahmacuns (Turkish style pizza) and pide's are to die for! The island is known for it's Oranges, Watermelons and Olive Oil as well as hellim (helumi).

The beaches

I have always called the beaches of North Cyprus the Turkish Maldives. The clear waters, pure yellow sand and light waves are what holidays are made for. If you don't believe me take a look yourself, you won't be disappointed. As mentioned before, the sea water is warmer so it's not a shock to the system when you jump in. Cyprus is a small island, so you're never too far from the coast or a beach. If you prefer pools, there are many hotel complexes that accommodate both a beach and a pool

How To Wear Black In Summer

Sunday, 11 June 2017

Whenever I think of summer, I never used to think of Black. I would always tend to go for a more colourful palette and lots of prints. As my style has grown and developed, I have found myself diving into the I wear black all year round category.

And with wearing black I knew I needed a great pair of heels to accompany the outfit. I decided to go for one of Kurt Geigers new stiletto styles this season. The Alice heel. They come in a range of colours as well as a super cool gradual colour transfer from red to black, nude to black and more. I decided to stick to the black suede as there's something about suede in the summer that is to die for. Also lets not forgetting it's the most comfortable of all leather.

The quality of shoes from Kurt Geiger are on parr with designer labels although they do not have the same premium price. In terms of size, I had to go one size larger as my normal size was a struggle to get them on. However, once I went up a size they slid on like Cinderella's glass slippers and were super comfortable. I wouldn't say these are everyday heels as they are super high and have a thin heel, but for evenings they are perfect. If you'd like to see any other styles or the other colour ways of this style check out there court shoes.

When it comes to wearing black in the summer it's important to go for items that are loose fitting and lightweight. That way you're not left feeling like a hot mess all day or night long. I've also put my hair up in a low messy bun. Again, this is great not only when wearing black in the summer but for those extra hot days. I find that when my hair is down I get even hotter so on the odd occasion that I do end up wearing black, I like to pull my hair away from my face.
