How To Wear Red This Season

Monday 27 November 2017

This season one of my favourite trends has got to be red. I find it so Christmassy and so snuggly. Can a colour be snuggly?

This red jumper was something that I recently picked up from a Zara haul I put up on my youtube channel you can find it here. I bought this jumper in a medium as I wanted it to be really loose and comfortable. I have since gone back to Zara and picked up a small in the beige colour. I just love everything about this jumper.

I find that a lot of people struggle with wearing red. It's quite a daring colour and it's in your face, but I think it's all down to perception. If you style it with black or white I find that it can look extremely elegant and more fashion forward than in your face.

I decided to pair this jumper with a pair of black leather look jeans. As the jumper is quite chunky and oversized, it's best to balance it out with a tighter bottom half, otherwise you end up looking like a total marshmallow. For me, winter means jeans and a nice chunky jumper to keep me warm. It's my winter go to and a fail safe outfit.

The reality is, I'm 99% sure I wouldn't usually wear heeled boots for a walk in the park, but for some strange reason it works (ok it doesn't but for the sake of the pictures it does).

How would you style red this season?

One of the few things that get me excited about the winter is the clothes. I've said it many times, but I'm a summer girl through and through. However, with winter styling, I feel that you are able to play around a lot more and experiment and show your true style more; I mean, you are wearing more clothes so it's a lot easier than in summer.

This season the best way to showcase your winter style is by layering. Layering when I was younger was lots of layers making me look like a huge round beach ball (bright colours were mandatory) starting with vests and working my way up to parka coats. But as I have grown up and my love for fashion has evolved, I have learned the art of layering gracefully.

My winter best friend is a pair of Uniqlo thermals. I own a vest top type one and a longer sleeved one. Each have their own purpose, but both, equally warm. But it does not stop there. Layering is all about looking like everything was meant to be put together. In these images, I am wearing four layers. Thats FOUR LAYERS!

The secret to layering is keeping each layer thin and working your way up to the thicker ones. Start layering the thinnest item all the way until you reach your coat.  First layer consists of my thermal, I went for the vest today. Second layer is a turtle neck jumper, third layer a shirt and the fourth layer is a coat. And guess what, I don't look like a beach whale and I sure still am warm.

On days when it's really REALLY cold, I even resort to wearing tights under jeans. I'm not a tights gal, but if I'm cold, I'll pop them under jeans.

I finished this look with my current favourite pair of Emu boots. I love these boots are they are leather and look so sophisticated like most other Chelsea boots, however, they still have the signature sheepskin lining that keeps your feet so toasty, so a thin pair of socks and I'm good to go.

Do you have any layering tips? Feel free to share them down below.

Relaxing With Gallo Wine

Tuesday 14 November 2017

With autumn/ winter here there’s nothing I enjoy more than seeing that front door after a long day heading from event to event. Once I get home I like to get into some comfy clothes and have some #metime.

One way I truly relax is with a glass of Gallo Wine. Any bottle will do, I’m not fussed! They all taste divine. However, my favourite is Pinot Grigio which is crisp and fruity. I have been drinking their wine for many years so I thought it would be a great idea to show you all just how I relax with a glass to myself. Some of my favourite moments have been with a glass of wine in hand. After all, they say a great story never started with ‘I was drinking water’.

Coming home and relaxing is my favourite part of the day. This time of the year there are two ways that I find my ultimate relaxation. One being; sitting by the fireplace with a good book, and my favourite candles burning. The other, I love to jump in a nice hot bath (candles, Netflix and silence from the rest of the people in my house). Both go well with a nice glass of cold Gallo Pinot Grigio. Bliss. #hellogalloLaunched in 1933, Gallo Family Vineyards combines four generations of winemaking expertise from the world’s largest family owned winery to always deliver great-tasting wines and for everyday prices. Gallo is from California and that is actually my favourite type of wine.

So much love and passion goes into the making of each bottle to produce something we are still drinking over 80 years later. It is this history and passion that has made it such a great brand, which helps encapsulate everyday moments for me. Gallo Family Vineyards recently released their new sleek labels, making it easier to pick up your favourite tipple or to try another from their range.

How do you like to relax?

Please drink responsibly.

How To Wear A Statement Jacket

Sunday 5 November 2017

When it comes to statement pieces there is one rule that I always follow. Make that the one and only statement piece that you wear!

This tip is vital to keep an outfit looking classy rather than tacky. Imagine someone head to toe in statement pieces. Exactly, it just looks tacky af!  Keep the look simple.

I fell in love with this denim look jacket. It's so not a me piece but there's something that drew me to it. Like a magpie. I like shinny things I guess.

I decided to add my current favourite trousers. They're ribbed super tight and have a slight flare at the bottom. They make your legs look elongated and super slim. As they are super basic, it makes the jacket just pop out.

By adding a white top it keeps the look monochrome and the jacket just pops. As I have long hair, I thought it would be best to keep my hair tied up and out the way, also, as the jacket is full of faux pearl beading, it is also cautious to stop my hair from getting caught and tangles.
