How To Pick A Sophisticated Dress

Sunday 25 June 2017

Every now and then we find ourselves reaching for the same thing in our wardrobe. Whether it's those comfy jeans, or that go to dress for a special occasion (that's not quite special enough for a new dress). We all do it. Even I do. Currently, I am at a point in my life where I am fed up of fast fashion. I've had enough of not having space in my wardrobe. And after another wardrobe cleanse. I want to downsize my wardrobe.

This doesn't mean that I will constantly be recycling items in my wardrobe, but more that I will be a lot more selective of the pieces that I buy. And once I have had enough of a certain thing, I'm going to try and either sell it, or donate it (dependant on the item).

When I visited St Martin's Courtyard a few weeks back, I was kindly gifted this gorgeous dress from L.K. Bennett and it's the perfect every occasion dress. I can wear this during the spring summer for a variety of different things. From afternoon tea, to dinner to meetings. It's elegant, sophisticated and is such a timeless piece. Again, it's a combination of monochrome with a structured fit. Something I currently can not get enough of.

Alternatively, the spice things up a bit, I could easily switch this look up by adding a few different accessories to brighten the entire outfit. By adding a pair of coloured shoes, a different handbag, I could quickly switch the look from classic to edgy.

For me, when it comes to looking for that perfect dress, there are a few things I look for. Length, structure and colour. Keep these in mind when shopping and you're sure to find the perfect dress.

How To Wear Black In Summer

Sunday 11 June 2017

Whenever I think of summer, I never used to think of Black. I would always tend to go for a more colourful palette and lots of prints. As my style has grown and developed, I have found myself diving into the I wear black all year round category.

And with wearing black I knew I needed a great pair of heels to accompany the outfit. I decided to go for one of Kurt Geigers new stiletto styles this season. The Alice heel. They come in a range of colours as well as a super cool gradual colour transfer from red to black, nude to black and more. I decided to stick to the black suede as there's something about suede in the summer that is to die for. Also lets not forgetting it's the most comfortable of all leather.

The quality of shoes from Kurt Geiger are on parr with designer labels although they do not have the same premium price. In terms of size, I had to go one size larger as my normal size was a struggle to get them on. However, once I went up a size they slid on like Cinderella's glass slippers and were super comfortable. I wouldn't say these are everyday heels as they are super high and have a thin heel, but for evenings they are perfect. If you'd like to see any other styles or the other colour ways of this style check out there court shoes.

When it comes to wearing black in the summer it's important to go for items that are loose fitting and lightweight. That way you're not left feeling like a hot mess all day or night long. I've also put my hair up in a low messy bun. Again, this is great not only when wearing black in the summer but for those extra hot days. I find that when my hair is down I get even hotter so on the odd occasion that I do end up wearing black, I like to pull my hair away from my face.

If you're following me on Instagram you would have noticed that I have been on holiday. If you haven't noticed, where have you been? It's all I've been posting about. For me, summer is my favourite season and I adore everything about it. From the weather to the wardrobe.

As this holiday was super last minute I was a little rushed to get my summer wardrobe ready. So before I headed out to North Cyprus, I thought it would be a great opportunity to try out the personal shopping experience in Topshop. It's free and it is super fun.

I visited the Flagship store on the Friday before I headed out to pick up all my summer essentials. As my experience was booked so last minute I didn't manage to send any information to my personal shopper but the lovely Lise Valente took the initiative and had a look on my instagram and worked out my style and my size. I was super impressed. She nailed my size and my style down to a tee.

I've never experienced a personal shopper before and I really enjoyed it. I gave Lise a budget of £150 as I wanted to see how much I could actually get within my budget. Topshop being very reasonably priced, I managed to walk out with three dresses and a pair of flat sandals, all for just over £150.

For me, summer means dresses. I have always adored wearing dresses and for the summer I find them super easy and comfortable to wear. This red dress makes me feel like the dancing lady emoji. It has a hem with different lengths which make it super flattering and great for a day to night look.

I will be showing you the other dresses in other posts so stay tuned to see them.

Have you ever tried the personal shopping experience before? Are you a fan of summer dresses?

When it comes to blogging there are so many amazing opportunities that can come your way. From the smallest thing like receiving a free lipstick in the post to being taken to amazing adventures and experiences from brands. And I for one, am so grateful for every little opportunity that I am given.

Last week Social Network Solutions took me and a few other bloggers to the ultimate girls night in. It was really nice to have the chance to relax and unwind in our home town as that's something we don't really get to do. As I've mentioned in a few of my London hotel reviews before, before I started blogging I would never think about exploring London more and seeing what it's got to offer.

We started our day meeting at River Island and using the River Island studio to pick out some outfits. All four of us ended up picking up a few pairs of sandals as their summer collection was so dreamy! I also picked up a pair of black denim shorts and the geometric print knitted dress.

After shopping followed one of my favourite activities; afternoon tea. We headed to The Arch London for a delicious champaign filled afternoon tea. I must admit, I've sampled a lot of afternoon teas. even the Beauty and the Beast one (if you didn't see on my instagram stories you really missed out) but the scones at Arch London were one of my favourites I've ever had.

Shortly followed we headed to white city to K-West Hotel & Spa for an evening of girly fun filled pampering. Once we checked in to our hotel rooms we were greeted with these huge hampers filled with such amazing goodies. From jewellery to skin care and make up, there was such a great selection of products for us all to try.

The K-West spa is such a cool venue. It used to be a bbc recording studio so there are these incredibly long corridors and have this whole rock'n'roll themed sections in the hotel such as dj's until 3am (but due to the long corridors guests aren't disturbed. Also, there had a midnight tea, a rock'n'roll take on the classic Afternoon tea (next on my must try list).

The K Spa has some awesome facilities including a Snow Paradise (a room filled with snow) and The Nail Bar where you can also do classes to help improve your own skills. We had the chance to experience the Sun Meadow. I can only describe it as a room version of a sun bed, but without any of the skin damages that comes with using tan beds. The sun meadow gives your body all the vitamins it needs while the light therapy uses a low intensity ultraviolet light that’s gentle enough so that skin can be exposed safely for a short period. It truly made me feel relaxed, as if I was sitting in the sun on a warm summers day.

We then went and spent some well needed time using the rest of the spa facilities. We were having so much fun relaxing that we didn't realise it was time for dinner. In London we are constantly on the go, we all need to take some time out for ourselves and truly relax and let go. After dinner and drinks we had a fabulous girls night in talking all things blogging and beauty.

The next morning we woke up to a delicious breakfast and headed off for our last stop, Boutique Spa for a mani pedi. The nail shop is not like your average, it's such a lovely relaxing environment and the staff were so friendly.

I would just like to say thank you to Social Network Solutions, Luxe Pr, The Arch London, K-West Hotel & Spa, Boutique Spa and all the brands involved in the hamper for such an amazing girls night in!
