Winter Look Layering AW17

One of the few things that get me excited about the winter is the clothes. I've said it many times, but I'm a summer girl through and through. However, with winter styling, I feel that you are able to play around a lot more and experiment and show your true style more; I mean, you are wearing more clothes so it's a lot easier than in summer.

This season the best way to showcase your winter style is by layering. Layering when I was younger was lots of layers making me look like a huge round beach ball (bright colours were mandatory) starting with vests and working my way up to parka coats. But as I have grown up and my love for fashion has evolved, I have learned the art of layering gracefully.

My winter best friend is a pair of Uniqlo thermals. I own a vest top type one and a longer sleeved one. Each have their own purpose, but both, equally warm. But it does not stop there. Layering is all about looking like everything was meant to be put together. In these images, I am wearing four layers. Thats FOUR LAYERS!

The secret to layering is keeping each layer thin and working your way up to the thicker ones. Start layering the thinnest item all the way until you reach your coat.  First layer consists of my thermal, I went for the vest today. Second layer is a turtle neck jumper, third layer a shirt and the fourth layer is a coat. And guess what, I don't look like a beach whale and I sure still am warm.

On days when it's really REALLY cold, I even resort to wearing tights under jeans. I'm not a tights gal, but if I'm cold, I'll pop them under jeans.

I finished this look with my current favourite pair of Emu boots. I love these boots are they are leather and look so sophisticated like most other Chelsea boots, however, they still have the signature sheepskin lining that keeps your feet so toasty, so a thin pair of socks and I'm good to go.

Do you have any layering tips? Feel free to share them down below.
