THE REALITY OF BLOGGING AND WHERE HAVE I BEEN

Saturday, 11 May 2019

Firstly, I know this blog post is overdue, like months overdue! But I had fallen so out of love with my blog, uninspired and simply didn’t know what to talk about for the entire of 2019. But I’m making it my mission to make time up and create regular posts again.

I feel like I have finally learnt how to manage my time and to prioritise the more important things on a daily basis. This has taken six long years to get here but that’s what blogging is all about. It’s about learning new things, growing and in return, sharing it with an audience who enjoys reading your weird internet thoughts. So, thank you to everyone who has stuck around over the last year.

what is full time blogging like

I know I haven’t been putting in 100% effort and that really shows throughout my work. And I think it’s totally normal in this line of work. Being a blogger/ social media person really takes everything out of you. To the point where sometimes you feel like you don’t have anything left to give.

I’ve felt deflated, I felt uninspired and I’ve felt extremely inadequate. All topics that I have written numerous times about overcoming. These were all feelings myself and my other blogger friends have felt over the years, but this time it felt different. No matter what I tried to do I just couldn’t snap out of it. I couldn’t re-motivate myself or get inspired again and I fell into a pit of pulling myself away from everyone and everything I cared about.

what is full time blogging like

Over December, I reached a real low and felt like I needed a change. I needed a huge change that would push me to my limits and that change came in the form of a full-time job.

I worked full time for four months as a social media manager for a luxury brand. And I feel like having that opportunity really inspired me and helped me get back to me. It gave me a reason to get out of the house, it inspired me, it taught me and above all, I had something else to focus on for a while.

It took my mind off of my blog and gave me room to breathe. I didn’t have to think about Instagram or writing or even creating videos. Although I was still active on most of these platforms, I knew I was letting it all slide and I think that was probably the best decision for me.

At this new job I experienced the other side of blogging and Instagram. I met new people and I learnt new skills. Although I really enjoyed what I was doing in this role, I knew it was only a temporary role. I don’t know if I’ll start looking again for a full-time role, or stick back to the blog, but I just wanted to come on here and let you all know what I’ve been up to. Why I’ve been really quiet.

Life has a really funny way of pushing us to what we need. I needed to take a break from blogging to show me how much I love my platforms and engaging with all of you. I want you all to know that we all have ups and downs, we all experience hardships and that we have to go through these to be able to realise what we really want in life.

If you made it this far down the post thank you. Thank you for your support thank you for sticking around. I’d love to hear if any of you have gone through anything similar. Please feel free to leave a comment down below or message me on  twitter or Instagram @teralatilan.

Grey Flared Jumper

Wednesday, 2 November 2016

With the days getting colder, I'm slowly moving towards jumpers. But I'm fed up of the same thing, so I have found a new love. Flared, bell sleeves whatever you name it. I'm obsessed this is probably the third or fourth look I have done this season. Obsessed I know. But when I love something, I LOVE IT. And I wear it until everyone around me is sick of seeing it.

This time I've gone for a more muted version. What looks like a simple outfit is pulled all together by the addition of the flared sleeves. I've teamed it with my favourite Dorothy Perkins Denim and some comfy nude heels.

Have you ever found yourself as obsessed as I am with a certain trend? Let me know.

Lace. It's something that's quite hard to pull off. And Especially double lace. I don't know what I was thinking when I planned this outfit but I think it works really well.

This outfit is so summery and light I love it. Perfect for dinner with the girls or date night. I would even consider wearing this outfit for meetings, just a quick change of the wedges for a pair of lower day heels and the addition of a white or cream blazer and I'm set to go. What do you think?

How To Wear A Striped Shirt

Shirt Zara (similar here) | Jeans | Espadrilles Zara (similar here) | Prada Sunglasses

Every now and then, I get to a point where I just want to dress simple. Forget the trends, forget what everyone is wearing and just go for a classic shirt and jeans combo. Although I love dressing up and experimenting, I do really enjoy keeping it simple, and just throwing a basic shirt on and rushing out to run some errands.

I adore this shirt so much, I feel like the blue stripes in the shirt compliment the jeans colour perfectly, giving a really relaxed and effortless outfit.

I've gone super comfortable with my favourite espadrilles. Zara are absolutely killing it as always this season with their shoes range. I can't get enough! I absolutely adore these shoes so much that I'm actually contemplating on whether I should go back and get another pair just incase I ruin the first! Or perhaps if you know of a similar pair in black... make sure you let me know because I need a pair!

What's your go to casual outfit?

What To Wear On A Long Haul Flight

Le Specs Sunglasses | Abbott Lyon Watch

With the sun shinning so brightly in London, it's got me dreaming of holidays. My holidays aren't coming up until the end of summer (sigh) but that hasn't stopped me from already holiday shopping! I know that when the time comes, I won't be able to find anything that I like or want, so it's better to get them now.

When I saw this jumpsuit I envisioned that it would be the perfect outfit for travelling. It's light, comfortable and will keep you warm enough on the plane, but cool enough until you get to your hotel.

I for one can not sit still on a plane, I can never seem to get comfortable; my legs are always moving up and down off of my seat, so the fact that this is a jumpsuit means I don't have to worry about having my underwear on show and can focus on getting comfortable.

I especially love the fact that they are culottes, it's such a flattering shape and so effortless. I teamed my jumpsuit with a pair of trainers, but you could easily switch it up for a pair of sandals or sliders, ready to take you to the beach.

I hope you all enjoy the sunshine we're having this week and make the most of it, I know I sure am. I'm off to continue sun bathing in my garden...

This Is Teral Turns Three

Monday, 25 April 2016

Three years! This Is Teral has been going on for THREE YEARS! I can't believe it.

Although I don't know the official date as I've gone through and deleted old posts because quite frankly, I didn't have a clue what I was doing back then (not like I do now) so I've decided that today 25th April is my blog anniversary. The first blog post that's live on This Is Teral; have a look here, was published officially three years ago today. Isn't that scary!

It's crazy how different my personal style and blog has changed. I have worked so hard to achieve my own style for fashion and writing and invested so much effort and time into creating this blog that I am so proud of!

I remember the day I took these images like it was yesterday. I got all dressed up to go to my first ever press day and was super excited that I'd been invited down to the Me Hotel in London. When I arrived, the ladies at the door asked where I was from and I felt so ashamed to say I was a blogger, I felt like I wouldn't have any respect from anyone because, who was I? Just a random girl writing on the internet. When I look back I feel ashamed to say that I was embarrassed to tell anyone about my blog, I was so very proud of it, but I always felt as if everyone would be judging and laughing at me, so I always played down how excited I was about it all. Now, I feel like the blogging community has taken over, and we're here to make our mark! I'm writing this after a busy week full of press events where people are so excited to see me, a blogger. I'm constantly bumping into people at events who have 'seen my blog before' etc and it makes me so proud to see how far myself, and other bloggers have come in such a short period.

I'm actually in shock that my blog is officially three years old! Last week my mum stated that I am so protective of my blog that I treat it like it's my baby, and she has literally hit the nail on the head. This blog means so much to me. My little corner of the internet has helped me grow into the stylish business woman I am today. I say business woman, because blogging is HARD! You need to be business savvy to be successful and I'm still working on the business side of it all. But I will continue to work even harder on it because it's something that makes me so very happy. Over the last year and a half, my blog has gone from just my friends and family reading it to over 25,000 people following me and my style around. I've been given so many fantastic opportunities to work with some amazing brands and can't wait to see what the future holds for this little website!

I can not write this blog post without thanking all of my family, friends, readers and followers. Thank you for your support, thank you for you patience, and thank you all for reading. My love for you all is never ending. You all mean so much to me.

Mustard, Denim and Bare Legs

Tuesday, 5 April 2016

Spring has finally sprung and I did it. I've braved the cold in a skirt once again. And to be honest, it wasn't really THAT cold. With the addition of a warm coat I'd be able to wear this outfit all day.

As it's spring, I decided it's time to add more colour into my wardrobe and this mustard top is the perfect way to do so as it still looks amazing with denim and even black. For colder days, swap for a pair of leather leggings and black booties and you're set to go.

These Chanel sunglasses are the perfect accessory for this look. The wood like effect really softens the outfit and looks great with the booties.

I bought these boots for Fashion Week and I havent stopped wearing them since. H&M and Zara are doing wonders to my shoedrobe at the moment I can't seem to stop buying shoes right now, but they're all just so pretty! Just like these ones I posted on my Instagram the other day.

Come say hey on social media
