How To Run A Successful Blog

Monday, 14 November 2016

Every day, I check my emails and my DM's on Instagram and I have a ridiculous amount of people asking me how I run a successful blog and how to start.

Firstly, I have this huge sense of pride that people think that little old me is running a successful blog, not even just a blog but a successful one, so thank you all kind people! Secondly, I used to always message everyone back and give them all the advice I could give and never receive even a thank you.

After spending a lot of my own time messaging I thought it would be a lot simpler to write a blog post all about it and seeing as you all really enjoyed my How To Stand Out As A Blogger post I thought you would all enjoy reading this.

1) Just Start
This is simple, you will never run a successful blog if you don't start. Once you start, it's a lot easier to work on something rather than constantly thinking about starting.

2) Don't do it for the free stuff or expect to be paid straight away.
I've been blogging for over three and a half years, I didn't receive my first item after the first year, and I didn't even realise I could make money until the beginning of 2016! Yes, blogging looks so luxurious and I know my Snapchat hauls look amazing but it has taken a vast amount of emailing back and forth to secure something that looks like I just received random things in the post

3) Find something you are passionate about and write about that
There's no point writing about blogging about something for the sake of it, or because that's what everyone you know is doing. Blog about something you have a genuine passion about, something that you can talk about day after day, and you'll never have to work again (I'm sure there is a saying along those lines, but it's so true.) Whether it be a niche or a broad subject, as long as you love it, you are more than likely to become successful. Your readers can tell when you don't really care about something, so always stay true to yourself and your passions.

4) Be Consistent
Consistency is key. Whenever I take a few days off I notice my stats falling down, I also notice that my readers expect a certain amount from me weekly and when I don't I get questioned, which I love as it always keeps me motivated to work harder. Although I don't have any days set in stone, I still try to post 3-4 times a week.

5) BE YOURSELF
This is probably the most important of them all. As I mentioned before, your readers can tell if you are telling the truth or not, so just be yourself. If you don't like a product, say it, they will respect you a lot more for it. Don't pretend to live a life you don't have and don't try to be like your favourite blogger or celebrity. As I mentioned in this blog post, you are enough and you will find people that enjoy reading your content because it is your own style, views and opinions.

I hope you have found this post helpful. Let me know if there is anything else you would like to know about blogging, or if you like these sort of blog tips. You can find all the posts I have written about blogging tips here.
