Review: Bubba Gump, Best Srimp in London?

If you told me a few years ago that I would have been going to a shrimp (prawn) restaurant I would have laughed at you. I never was a fan of anything fishy, until recently, I love fish and seafood now, especially prawns. So when a friend suggested going to Bubba Gump, a shrimp lovers heaven, I couldn't resist.

The restaurant is slightly different to what were used to in London. I mean you had to walk through a confection store where everything was shrimp related. We even joked about a shrimp teddy, when the guy at the counter directed us towards some (so cute).

As we went up the stairs, the first thing we saw were various images of Forrest Gump, the filming parts and lots of images of Tom Hanks. The restaurant was a shrine towards Forrest Gump (the movie), that one could assume that it might have actually been a real life story. There were screens showing the movie and it felt like we had walked in to an American dinner/ restaurant, just like the one in the movie.

As we were seated into a little cubicle, the waitresses explained how to use these cute signs 'Run Forrest Run' and 'Stop Forrest'. Whenever you would change it to stop, a waiter would miraculously appear and help us.

Coming on to the menu, there really is a number of different shrimp options that I didn't even know existed. From deep fried, to cold classics. There are endless amounts of options. We decided to order calamari and frizzled onion strings for starters then ordered the combo shrimp with four or five different types of shrimp; "Just like mama made them back home in Alabama". To be fairly honest, they say that this menu was created for one person and I can eat, but there was so much food I couldn't finish, I was quite disappointed in myself.

If you're looking for something different and fun I'd definitely recommend this restaurant as it's one of the quirkiest restaurants I've been to in a while. The waiters created a nice relaxed and friendly atmosphere, they had a great knowledge of the food and helped recommend their favourite dishes and drinks for us. If you love shrimp make sure you get down and eat until your belly starts to feel as if it's about to explode.

Lots of Love
